Swami Vivekananda was the most prominent of Ramakrishna's disciples.
He came to the U.S. as the representative of Hinduism at the World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893. His overwhelming success resulted in the founding of a number of centers throughout America, and many believe, the emergence of Eastern philosophy in the West.
Swami Vivekananda's approach to Vedanta is probably the most tuned to the needs of the Western world. We especially recommend his books on the different "Yogas."
