Swami Saradananda was a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, best known for his book Sri Ramakrishna: The Great Master.
He didn't spend a long time in the West, but his influence in America was profound. He created much interest in Indian philosophy and literature, for he spoke with great authority. The book includes a very personal chronicle of his time in America. It's a way to meet the man, and see his love and devotion. Also included are eleven lectures given by the swami in the US.
Swami Saradananda was the first Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, a post he held until his death in 1927.
Saradananda: The Bliss of Knowledge
The talks by Swami Saradananda were very illuminating and it showed what a learned speaker he was. It was great getting more insight into the life and character of Swami Saradananda, who I admire very much.
