The spiritual insights of the Upanishads are an exception to the tyranny of time. Subsequent scientific advances have not only unaffected their truth-value, but have helped to reveal the rational basis of their insights and enhanced their spiritual appeal. This is no wonder, because these insights are the products of an equally scientific investigation into a different field of experience, namely, the world of man’s inner life.
The Message of the Upanishads is a study, verse by verse, of three of the principal Upanishads in the light of modern thought and modern needs. Though constituting a small portion of the total Upanishadic literature, the Isha, Kena and Katha Upanishads yet contain a lucid exposition of the essential ideas of this sacred literature.
The book consists of lectures given by Swami Ranganathananda in the Vivekananda Hall of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Kolkata between May 2, 1962 and January 19, 1963. Swami Ranganathananda was the 13th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

Message of the Upanisads
Swami Ranganathananda's Message of the Upanisads is excellent! I studied his multi-volume series on the Bhagavad Gita and thought that it was phenomenal so, I had very high expectations for the Upanisads. I have not been disappointed. Swami R. is great at explaining the verse, putting it into easily understood English and then giving great examples of how to apply it to our lives.

Swami Ranganathananda explains the esoteric and spiritual insights from the Upanishad in a manner that is conducive to the reader of the twentieth and twenty first century. He uses numerous literary sources to express succinctly as well as clearly for easy comprehension.
