He came from a rural environment far removed from our experience. People used stagecoaches for transport, and cannonballs were used in battle.

The book's aim is to provide a record of what it was like during Ramakrishna's lifetime for a better understanding of Ramakrishna and his message. For example, people used the horse and carriage, soldiers used cannon balls, and the British ran the country.
